Chevron Swimsuit

I'm still swooning over the one piece I got in New Orleans last month.  I haven't worn a one piece swimsuit since I was a kid.  This one, however, makes me feel like a beautiful, grown-ass woman.  I'm in love with it.

April Showers

It was as if the sky just opened up.  The clouds looked angry and fast moving. I love it when it rains.

Sabrina

Popped in a VHS and having my tea in bed this morning, I'm super tired today.

B-B-Q

I couldn't wait for the coals to cool down and be ready so they charred a bit, but that burnt flavor is the best part.  (Seasoned chicken legs, sausage, a bacon-wrapped chicken leg, veggie skewer and corn.  Homemade rice, beans, and potato salad for our sides.) I'm getting hungry writing this all down.

Textured Art

My husband made this piece with a leftover piece of plywood (approx 2' x 10"), strips of paper from an old book (Autobiography of a Yogi) that was preciously his grandfather's, some bus schedules, glue, and leftover kitchen paint.  Then he carved random designs into it using the tip of a power drill.  Genius.

DAY 087/365

An old co-worker gave me a bunch a fabric and this one went up in the laundry room.  It changes looks throughout the day.  Here, it's illuminated.  At night, it has a silver iridescent look. Pretty rad.

Sentimental Snapshots

I have as couple snapshots on my desk that I like to look at.

Left:  Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France June 2000.
It's a happy memory for me because I had spent 3 weeks in Europe (Italy, Austria, Switzerland, then France) and Paris was the last stop.  We had ridden a train from Zurich then hopped on a bus to go see the sights.  I was sleepy so I took a quick nap, when  i woke up the bus was stopped and this was my view, the back of the cathedral.

Right:  Last summer my husband and I took out eldest niece and nephew to Six Flags Fiesta Texas.  I sat out for this ride so I could get the shot, the three of them are pictured in the top right. Such a fun filled day swimming and getting on rides.  It's a day I hope we never forget.

Corelle

When I inherited my grams' house I sold nearly all of her dishes at a yard sale but I'm glad I kept the Corelle dishes. I've dropped them a few times on accident and they didn't crack or chip. They're legit.

Flower Power

I was inspired by this fabric, but once I pulled it out of the fabric stack I noticed it was a work in-progress.  It's a long sleeved jumpsuit! I wonder why my grandma never finished it, it has has a zipper and everything, just needs to be hemmed. Anyways, I think I'm going to restyle it and make something out of it that I'd wear. A work in-progress to be continued...

DAY 081/365

The pear tree has some shiny, pretty, green leaves, it's giving me spring fever.

Cuidado

My mother in-law would collect signs, this is one of them.  I wonder where she got it and if the burn mark was there when she found it. There's a story behind it that I wish I knew.

Thread Count

After I inherited all of my grandma's sewing materials I sorted and consolidated the whole lot.
I may have every shade I can imagine I might one day need. I'm set for life in thread.

DAY 078/365

My husband's cousin sent us some whole bean coffee from Austin.  It's my 2nd time having a cup of coffee this year.  This flavor roast, Poco Java, has a hint of chocolate to the brew and is super tasty.  After my one cup I started to move furniture and spring clean.  I was quite productive.

Give Me S'more

We roasted marshmallows on the stove top and made s'mores in our toaster oven.
I couldn't remember the last time I had a s'more.  I had two.

Ninja Cat

I had just tidied up the bathroom, left for a second, then there he was.

DAY 075/365

Ordered Chili's to-go and they hooked it up with a free strawberry lemonade.  Super tasty! Then I freaked out for a sec when I opened the lid and saw all the seeds.

Light Leaks

I forgot all about this roll of film.  It was a whole roll of test shots from a film camera that I bought myself.  Some images didn't come out though, so it's either the super old film I used or the camera's light meter is broken.  I like this photo, it's my husband relaxing before he has to go to work.

Treading Home

Foggy & overcast day as we make out way back home.  See you again soon, New Orleans!

What's a road trip without the Waffle House?  Those hash browns got devoured.

Beautiful blue skies in Texas.

DAY 069/365

Roaming around and stumbled upon this record shop, found a rad Velvet Underground bag.

 Beignets at Cafe du Monde.

The Crescent City Bookstore has a friendly cat upstairs.  I couldn't believe the hidden gems this place had.  I got Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude for only $3.

After our morning stroll, we met up with the family for lunch.  Sammy's on Elysian Fields was so good. Probably the best cajun food I've ever had.  I'm definitely going back for their cornmeal fish.

Everywhere I turn there's something that catches my eye.
